No. 84 Porsche second in Nürburgring 24 Hours

Our No. 84 Porsche team finishes the 2020 iRacing Nürburgring 24 Hours in second place! Drivers Manuel Mayer, Benjamin Fischer, Pascal Theis and Kyle Birnie battled the Nürburgring Nordschleife - widely regarded as the most challenging and demanding race track in the world - for 24 hours and even led the race for many laps.

During the night, in the 13th hour of the race, while Kyle Birnie was going to lap the slower No. 337 Porsche of Hugh Jass eSports, an incident occured when Aaron Thacker brake checked Birnie into the track section of Kallenhardt. Birnie had no time to prepare for the sudden hard braking maneuver and avoided Thacker's car and crashed into the barrier.

The Californian was able to bring the car back to the pits and the team did the best possible repair on the car's front end damage, but for the final twelve hours of the race, the team was off pace and consequently lost the race lead to eventual race winners, the No. 292 Porsche of Newman Simracing.

Together with the team's victory in January's iRacing 24 Hours of Daytona, the racing year of the 2020 iRacing special events has been stellar for Fischer Motorsport so far.

"I'm just so very, very proud of everybody. What a team effort. We set a goal for ourselves and although we didn't make it through undamaged, it shows the grit and endurance this team has. And that's what you need in these endurance races, especially at the Nordschleife. I also want to give special thanks to Marcel and Aaron, who have done an outstanding job as spotters. It was a total team effort all the way. Congratulations to Newman SimRacing, they did a hell of a job and they're well deserving winners.", Fischer said.

The team will return the Nürburgring already next weekend for Round 3 of the iRacing Nürburgring Endurance Championship.
