Preview: iRacing 12 Hours of Sebring
Drivers Pascal Theis, Y. Hignet, Kyle Birnie and Benjamin Fischer will team up to pilot the car in the second big endurance classic of the year after the iRacing 24 Hours of Daytona this past January.
Of all six editions of the iRacing 12 Hours of Sebring, Fischer has participated in five, with the 2017 edition being the sole time he missed the event. So the 37-year old Leipzig, Germany native knows of the meaning of the race.
“No question, Sebring is one of those that you have to win some day. It’s a true classic. For me, it happened to work out on the first try back in 2016 when I won this event driving for Agee Motorsports. That was really specical.”, Fischer dwelled in memories for a moment.
For Fischer Motorsport things didn’t go as well in last year’s edition. After an accident with another GT3 car in turn nine, the team had to park the car and retire from the race with a broken axle.
“I think it’s going to go better this time. We put a lot of work into preparation for this one. I think we’re ready. Sure, we will need that little bit of luck, as always. But we have done everything imaginable to get ourselves ready for every possible situation.”, explained Pascal Theis.
Counting 17 turns and countless, at times severe, bumps, Sebring International Raceway counts as one of the true old school tracks on the calendar. On a total length of 3.7 miles (6 km) three classes (LMP2, GTLM, GTD) will compete for positions and share real estate.
Accordingly, expectations are there for an action-packed race, when things kick off with the green flag on Saturday at 13:45 CET / 7:45 am ET for the iRacing 12 Hours of Sebring.
