Preview: iRacing NEC Round 8
Niclas Pedersen and Benjamin Fischer have come close to winning their second NEC race of the season earlier this month, in NEC Round 7, taking second place after starting from pole position.
This weekend, the Aarhus, Denmark and Leipzig, Germany driver want to close the deal and take victory.
“We didn’t quite have the pace last time. But we’ve worked on some things and should be in a better position this weekend, I think. But it’s the Nordschleife. Anything can happen.”, Pedersen said.
Currently sitting in 22nd place in the 911CUP class championship standings, the No. 84 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (992) of Pedersen and Fischer is not in contention for the title anymore with only two races to go, but is looking for a strong finish to the 2022 season.
Sunday’s NEC Round 8 will be the first time since NEC Round 9 in October 2021 that Fischer Motorsport will have more than one entry in the series.
Manuel Mayer makes his return to the iRacing Nürburgring Endurance Championship and his first start in the series this year. The Teisendorf, Germany driver is joined by new team driver Jan Tobias Schrader in the No. 85 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (992).
“We wanted to enter a second car for a while, but this weekend it finally worked out. Jan Tobias is a new driver for the team, that we’re very excited about and the plan that he competes full-time in the NEC next year, for the team.”, team founder and manager Benjamin Fischer said.
Sunday’s NEC Round 8 is scheduled for start at 15:40 CEST and will go a distance of four hours.
