Preview: IVRA ClubSport Series at Spa
Y. Hignet, Pascal Theis and the No. 85 Porsche team enjoyed turning their season around lately. After a disaster of a season opener the team earned back-to-back seventh place finishes in the last two races.
“We’re going in the right direction, but we want more. We entered this season with the expectation to fight for top-five positions and occasionally the win, perhaps. But we’re still far away from that at the moment. The team is working super hard. We’ll see what we can achieve this weekend.”, Pascal Theis said on Friday.
The sister car No. 84 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup with long-time veteran drivers Manuel Mayer and Benjamin Fischer endure their worst stretch of races lately. In championship round 2 at COTA, Mayer was wrecked off the racetrack after just four laps. One race later at Barber, a technical problem lead to a spin across the grass and back onto the racing line before Mayer was hit yet again only to see the car flip over.
“In reality, the season is pretty much over for us. We’re just too far back now (171 points). There was a lot of bad luck involved in that. But Spa is one of my favorite tracks, so I love coming here. We’re just focused on what we can control. We want to make the best out of these last three races. For us, that starts with making it back to the top ten this weekend.”, Mayer said.
The 4 Hours of Spa will see the green flag wave on Saturday 7:10 pm CET/ 1:10 pm EST and will be broadcast live by RaceSpotTV on YouTube. Fischer Motorsport will additionally provide an onboard live stream from inside the cockpit of the No. 84 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup.
